Edinburgh

It’s was beautiful day in Edinburgh today. Partly sunny and cool. We wandered around the city a bit and enjoyed the weather. We found the famous statue of Bobby the spaniel. There is a cute statue with the nose already worn to a golden shine by all the tourists rubbing it for good luck. We were told that there is some fear among the locals that all the luck rubbing off may eventually cause his nose to disappear.

We had a cup of tea at John Knox house then we headed over to Edinburgh castle.

Edinburgh Castle is a fabulous stone edifice located on the top of a cliff overlooking the city. There is so much Scottish history on display. It’s easy to spend a few hours taking it all in.

At 1300 each day they fire off a cannon. There were several hundred people lining the castle walls to watch.

Lunch was of course at a local Pub. We had our first taste of haggis. It was in a haggis pie. Quite delicious.

The city surrounding the castle and the Royal Mile, is fantastically beautiful. The architecture and stone streets makes one feel as if one had stepped back in time. There are so many things to do and see. It would take a month at least just visit all the Pubs and restaurants.

Still getting used to the new three lens phone.
